A carpet shop is playing its part in the Industry's first ever retailer and manufacturer publicity drive.

Crystal Carpets, in Woodside Road, Amersham, has been selected as one of only 850 firms out of around 14,000 carpet retailers in the UK to be a registered carpet specialist.

The 'registered specialist' tag is being highlighted in magazine and TV adverts in a £1m national campaign, and is endorsed by The Carpet Foundation, which represents more than half the British manufacturing industry.

Stores must show commitment to buying British and have a proven track record in business.

Crystal Carpets is part of Davies Furnishings, set up in Amersham in 1956 by David Davies, father of Crystal Carpets director Philip, pictured above.

Mr Davies said, This is a tremendous opportunity for us. We get highly visible involvement in a national campaign, the like of which we would never be able to do on our own. We need to get carpets higher up the consumer agenda.

The firm has another store, Davies Furnishings, in Packhorse Road, Gerrads Cross.
